Brandi & Randy in Sydney, part 3

see part two HERE - Ginger Root Home

Our host in the city, Janawirri Yiparrka, took us for a drive around the town on our first day there.

One of the first stops... Bondi Beach.

Then out to the entrance to the bay, where we got a look back at the city.

Then we got to see a genuine Aborigine interacting with the wildlife.

We went browsing at Blackbooks, a great resource of material on the Aboriginal people, both in the past and present. Aboriginally owned and operated, it's housed in the same building as a school with educational programs both for and about Aboriginal people. Hopefully I can put up more info about this soon... we mailed some catalogs home in a slow boat!

On another day, Janawirri and his friend Troy took us "out bush."

We saw ancient rock engravings, including this series of sea life.

And we had a very rare opportunity to see a live echidna (porcupine) in the wild. Here it is trying to hide from Janawirri, who threatened to take him home for dinner.

Down the trail from the echidna was a spectacular waterfall, with a powerful wind pushing the other direction, shooting a spray up over the dropoff. Here's Brandi enjoying the shower.

Here's Randy, staying relatively dry on the other edge.

Next... we fly out to the desert
