Yidaki Festa 2005 DVD

Now available on DVD import from Japan, 70 year-old master yidaki (didjeridu) player from Northeast Arnhem Land Djalu' Gurruwiwi, live in performance. He is joined by his brother Gurritjiri, who was charged with maintaining the singing of their clan by his father, just as Djalu' was charged with maintaining the yidaki. Dancing onstage are his wife Dopiya Yunupingu and grandson Liyakandirr Gurruwiwi. The DVD is good semi-professional quality, 3-camera edit, unfortunately one camera out of synch a split second. Encoded NTSC for Japan/North American TV's, and Region 0 for worldwide playability.

As far as we know, this is the first commercially available video of this Aboriginal master didjeridu player and family in performance. Grab it!
